CoronaRita Recipe

As you may know, National Margarita Day (aka THE BEST DAY EVER) is coming up on Feb. 22. In honor of this joyous occasion, I wanted to share one of my favorite margarita recipes: the CoronaRita! This recipe is a deliciously fun twist on the margarita.  The CoronaRita is a traditional or frozen margarita that is accompanied by an upside down Corona, which slowly seeps into the margarita while the cocktail is being consumed, infusing it with subtle yet distinct Corona flavor.

With the margarita as the #1 ordered cocktail and Corona Extra as the #1 ordered import beer, this drink is a match made in fiesta heaven.

You can purchase some really fun bottle holders HERE, but if you don’t have any, just get a nice big glass and stick that baby in.

CoronaRita

1 Coronita 7 oz. beer

1 lime wedge

Margarita Rocks:

  1. ½ Salt rim
  2. Combine ingredients 1-3 in shaker with ice
  3. Shake vigorously
  4. Strain into glass with 2/3 ice
  5. Invert Coronita in clip on glass, garnish with lime wedge and serve

 Margarita Frozen:

  1. ½ Salt rim
  2. Combine ingredients 1-3 in blender with 1 cup ice
  3. Blend until smooth
  4. Pour into glass

Have fun with fresh fruit or herbs by muddling some in the bottom of your glass or throwing a handful in the blender. Both of these margaritas can be easily customized!

*Store bought margarita mix can be packed with sugar, so consider making your own healthy version! This is a recipe I love from Gracious Pantry:

(Makes approximately 2 servings)

  • 1/2 cup fresh squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/8 teaspoon pure orange extract

Combine all ingredients and shake or stir until the honey has dissolved.

Cheers! What are the secrets to your perfect margarita?
