Where The Wild Things Are Baby Shower

A couple weeks back I shared the outdoors themed shower my best friend threw me; now I want to share the Where The Wild Things Are shower my mom hosted! I’m such a lucky girl to have had two beautiful celebrations. Every detail of my mom’s shower was so thoughtful and special (and mostly made by hand), I took most of the decor home so that Max can enjoy it once he’s arrived. My mom also made the quilt for his nursery (which I’m revealing this week), and I keep thinking about how special it is that he’s surrounded in items handmade with love just for him. *sniffle*

Here are the adorable details for my little wild thing…

In the middle of each table there was a beautiful wooden placemat topped with potted plants and a candy filled crown for my king of the wild things. My mom laid all of that on top of the most amazing handmade runner, which I’ll get to.

This crown candy dish (sold as a votive holder) came home with me for Max’s nursery. It’s from Hobby Lobby- what an awesome find! Go Mom!

Here’s a close up picture of the runner my mom made using custom fabric. The picture doesn’t do the table justice (it never does, does it?). It looked so pretty laid on top of the gold linens, and the gold glasses she found at World Market were the perfect finishing touch. I know by Max’s first birthday I will have probably moved on and want another theme…but I WILL find a way to use these runners again for the little guy. I love them so much.

Each plate had a crown place-card tied around the napkin (more DIY awesomeness). My mom had a handful of blank crowns leftover which I’m using to label Max’s toy bins in the nursery closet. They’re just the sweetest.

Although my mom has blessed me with many gifts (like extreme OCD and list writing), baking is NOT one of them. She makes cakes for every special occasion, and they’re always adorable and delicious!

Why make one cake when you can make 3? Each letter of Max’s name was a different flavor….

…and we destroyed the cake like true wild things.

Each guest left with a sailboat bottle opener. Such a cute little detail from the book.

A couple more pictures…

Me and my beautiful mama. I want to share the gift she got me, which happens to be my favorite baby gift of all- but that’s going to be part of the nursery reveal later in the week. A huge thank you to everyone who’s showered my little family with love! This has been such a special time.
