Have you heard of wine slushies? Allow me to introduce you: they’re refreshing, summery and oh-so-california! With only two ingredients (frozen fruit and wine), these beauties are super simple to make for an at home date-night or large gathering.
My local farmers market has amazing deals on larger quantities of fruit than my husband and I can get through- so I like to slice up the fresh, seasonal fruit that we won’t eat right away and save it for recipes just like this! This week I scooped up strawberries, pineapple and beautiful peaches. I sliced and froze them in the afternoon for wine slushies the next day. If you don’t have time to do that- buy frozen fruit in any variation!
You can use any wine you’d like, but I would highly suggest Truvée Chardonnay. It’s such a wonderful summer wine and it pairs beautifully with fresh fruit.
You can play with the ratios but I really loved 1 part wine to 1 part frozen fruit. If the slushy is a little thick just splash some wine into the blender and give it another spin. Serve immediately or freeze in ice cube trays for quick blending on a summer night.
- 1 part Truvee Chardonnay
- 1 part frozen fruit (I suggest peaches, strawberries and pineapple)
- Put all ingredients into the blender and blend until smooth.
- Play with ratios for desired thickness.
- Different fruit blends will create different consistencies.
I think next time I might try my slushy with all peaches! Which wine and fruit combo would you use?
