Avocado Smoothies

Summer is right around the corner, and that means BBQs, days by the pool and lots of summertime food! I’ve been trying hard to make smarter choices, whether that means meeting up to exercise with mommy friends a few times a week or being more mindful of what I’m eating. To help inspire and motivate us to make these smart choices, the SPLENDA® Brand is dishing out ways to reduce added sugar by swapping out full sugar for SPLENDA® Sweetener Products. I love browsing the recipes featured on SweetSwaps.com, so I can create dishes I love that still fit into a balanced lifestyle (and thank goodness for that, because Mama needs to eat)!

I offered to bring my Sweet Swap recipe to my latest play date, and it was a huge hit! I made Avocado Smoothies, which traveled perfectly in little mason jars. They were great for us moms and the kids! I’ve never thought of putting avocado into a smoothie, but it was a great way to add thickness without adding yogurt or peanut butter.

Avocado Smoothies

Ingredients

  • 1 avocado
  • Ice as desired (I used 1 cup)
  • Water as desired (I used 1/4 cup)
  • 2 SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener, Packets
  • Blueberries and Strawberries as desired (I used a fresh container of each)

Instructions

  1. Blend all ingredients. Garnish with berries if desired.

Speaking of Sweet Swaps, we decided to take the same approach with our pre-snack workout. We all agreed that using our little ones as work out equipment would be a lot more fun than our typical group exercise. We incorporated our babes into four fun workout moves after a nice long walk with our strollers.

Watch and learn, ladies…

First, we give you the baby-weighted lunge. Extra points for kisses at each knee bend. I also love doing this move while wearing my little one.

Next up, the 2 toddler arm press. Put your strongest little one at your knees to keep those feet firmly planted!

Not tired yet? Try some kiddie crunches. Belly tickles optional after each rep.

And finally, wrap up your workout with some kiss-ups. Place a drooling newborn between your arms and push up and down for kisses.
