Sammy’s Light and Bright Nursery

I’m about to share the beautiful nursery my baby girl never even used…

Just when this nursery was almost done, with just a few finishing touches to go- we found a new house. So I guess you could call this room the test run!

My son doesn’t nap. Well, he does nap- but someone needs to be burning gas or calories. The day we brought Sammy home he decided he was done napping in his crib, and that’s when the hour plus walks and driving in circles began. I want to be mad at him, but his napping demands lead his stroller to the perfect home, with a shiny For Sale sign in front- and it was love at first sight.

So now that you know the backstory, I’d love to share nursery #1 with you. It will pretty much be transplanted to our new home, with a few adjustments for the new layout.

We thought it would be fun to do before and after pictures (thank you Tegyn!), and I’m so glad we did. We’re going to do the same at this house with each room. If you missed it THIS was my inspiration post.

Here’s the before…

And after…

One of my favorite pieces of art never got hung in the old nursery (the old/new nursery…)- it’s this beautiful painting by Kent Youngstrom. You can check him out on his site and insta. He also has amazing collaborations with stores like CB2…seriously, check out his work!

I have been following Kent’s work via social media for a long time and hoping that one day I could get a piece for my home. Kent reached out to me after I shared the beginning of our nursery project, and so generously offered to do a piece for Sammy. I was floored that he would reach out and share his talent with our family, and I’m so grateful. In fact, in the midst of us moving and having a new baby I probably didn’t thank him adequately enough.

Thank you, Kent. This artwork is so special, and my daughter and I will treasure it. I can’t wait for it to find its special place in her new room.

The nursery I just shared had a ways to go. I ordered a chandelier that never made it out of the box (the one in my inspo post), and had bare walls to hang art on. It still needed some finishing touches. Also, don’t think it doesn’t annoy me that the mirror is dirty in every picture…I am tortured by it. TORTURED.

I’m really looking forward to sharing our new home’s transformation with you. I feel like we’ve settled into our forever home, and I can’t wait to work through it room by room.
