Acure Organics Review

A few months ago, I had the good fortune to start a skin and hair care regimen ala the company ‘Acure‘, a line of skin and hair care products that I had been seeing around various Whole Foods Markets (and noting how pretty their packaging looked), but hadn’t had the opportunity to pick up yet.

As I soon discovered, this company is so much more than just a pretty package. Acure is a family owned and operated company that is committed to sustainable, organic practices and ingredients. Each of their products is Fair Trade Certified, free from animal testing, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, harmful preservatives and artificial colors.

Not only are they in line with my vegan/cruelty free way of life, but they use both Chlorella growth factor and active stem cells in their products (more about this later), which I cannot get enough of.

The particular products below are ones that I now cannot (and refuse) to live without. Being a person with incredibly sensitive, combination skin, and due to the fact that I live in an area that has lime deposits in the water, I can attest to the fact that these products will work wonders.

Sensitive Facial Cleanser (argan oil + probiotic) – I loved this cleanser so much that I reviewed it separately on my LA Vegan Examiner column. As I stated above, I have sensitive combination skin and it is very difficult to tell what cleaners are going to dry my skin out. So far, this one hasn’t. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated and smooth, stripping it of residual makeup but leaving some of the natural oils my skin produces.

047-2Argan Cleansing Towelettes – Having tried most cleansing towelettes on the market, I am happy to say that these are my favorite. These towelettes are great for sensitive skin like mine, but they get the job done without a ton of scents and chemicals to cause a negative reaction. All hail argan oil! It is wonderful at keeping me hydrated without oily residue. Did I mention that the product on the towel and the towel itself is biodegradable? The towelettes are made of a natural polymer from wood pulp called cellulose and once buried, they begin to decompose after 7 days, so they’re incredibly environmentally friendly. Acure thinks of everything.

050-2Balancing Facial Toner – My only complaint with this product is that it runs out too quickly! Until I found this toner I had been using pure witch hazel, which, while being a natural source of toner that is good for some, was too harsh and contributing to drying out my skin. This toner is alcohol-free and utilizes organic witch hazel to purify, organic vegetable glycerin to moisturize, and organic rose and chamomile to soothe, calm and restore the skin’s natural acid mantle. I’m obsessed.

013-2Oil Control Facial Moisturizer (lillac stem cells + 1% chlorella growth factor) – Not only does this moisturizer smell amazing, but it actually does its job. My skin has never glowed as it does when I use this product. The Chlorella Growth Factor protects your face from harmful enzymes and aids with healing/healthy circulation. It also contains lilac stem cell, which works to balance oil and control breakouts. The essential oils are lightweight and not overbearing, and have truly helped my problematic skin while not being too overbearing. It can be used in the morning and at night!

009-2Moroccan Argan oil + Argan Stem Cell shampoo and conditioner – I needed these. I needed them so badly. The water in my town is rife with lime deposits and other crud, so the Argan oil in this powerhouse shampoo/conditioner team was sorely needed. Both products boast omega fatty acids, which will help keep the hair smooth and shiny, while Argan oil effectively penetrates the hair shaft and delivers nutrients directly to the hair fiber. This helps repair damaged follicles and promote hair growth. There is also Vitamin E in the oil, which increases the cells ability to absorb oxygen and provide better circulation to the scalp and increase nutrient absorption. I cannot say enough good things about this shampoo/conditioner combo.

028-2These products are my personal favorites, but I would encourage you to check out their website in case you have a different set of skin/hair issues that need addressing. Acure makes an organic, vegan, fair trade, and cruelty free product for pretty much any skin/hair type! Go forth and Acure.
