I feel like I haven’t touched this site in SO long! We just wrapped up a 4 month long remodel (pics coming soon!), and I was kind of forced to eliminate all of the “extra” along the way. Plus, not having a surface to work on kinda made it hard/impossible to get anything done.
That being said, I’m SO energized and inspired to get back to sharing what I love- thanks in part to an amazing new project I’m a part of.
Back in October I started filming/recording a show called, How To Home. It’s a show covering all things home, and it’s available on almost every digital streaming platform (video and podcast). The show is co-hosted by Aaron Massey of MrFixIt.com, and we cover EVERYTHING from landscape and plumbing to electrical and interior design.
I can’t even describe how therapeutic it’s been for me to talk to all of these experts as we gutted, renovated and now take on the design of our home. It’s been an amazing experience.
This has been so different from anything I’ve ever done before. Usually when I show up for work, I have a script and I serve as the polished “expert”. Falling into the shoes of the novice, and sometimes asking questions that can feel a little silly (dumb) has been super vulnerable, but also very empowering. Every week I leave with new knowledge and tools that will continue to serve me- and that feels so good!
The internet can be a weird place, especially in this age of the “influencer” (I hate that word). If I’m being super honest, I took a long break from blogging last year, because I just felt worn down by the pressure to be interesting. This show has been a reminder that the person I love to be is one who is interested and not interesting. It’s reminded me how much I love to learn, and try, and laugh about the complete fails that happen along the way.
I would love for you to subscribe and listen. Whether you’re thinking of buying or renting, are a first time homeowner or have lived in your home for 30 years- I can wholeheartedly promise you that you will learn something new- and hopefully laugh a bit along the way!
