Farmer’s Market Grilled Fruit and Warm Vegetable Salad

Grilling season continues to rage on, and this summer I’m thrilled to be partnering with my favorite hot dogs, Hebrew National, to share some more of my favorite recipes and entertaining tips! Today I want to share some of my favorite California inspired side dishes.


One thing I love about SoCal-style grilling is that the BBQ isn’t reserved for meat. My family has always thrown tons of fresh veggies on alongside our hamburgers and Hebrew National All-Beef Franks. One of my favorite summer sides is a warm, grilled vegetable salad! Simply throw your favorite veggies on the grill, chop into bite-sized pieces and dress with a simple vinaigrette and fresh herbs.


This is a really fun recipe to make after a trip to the farmers market! Here’s how I make mine:

Farmer’s Market Grilled Fruit and Warm Vegetable Salad


  • Fresh vegetables like: asparagus, corn, peppers, mushrooms, onions, cherry tomatoes (do not grill) and zucchini.
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • Sea salt
  • Goat cheese, crumbled
  • Cilantro to garnish


  1. Cut the ends off your veggies and slice accordingly. Leave the husked corn on the cob.
  2. Brush all of your veggies with olive oil (I love using lemon infused oil for this recipe)
  3. Throw veggies onto the hot grill. They’ll all cook at different speeds, so pull them off as they’re ready. The corn will take the longest.
  4. Once everything is cooked and off the grill, chop into smaller pieces (if you’d like) and cut the corn off the cob in nice big chunks.
  5. Toss grilled veggies with cherry tomatoes olive oil, lemon juice, salt, cilantro and goat cheese.
  6. Serve warm.


The same rules apply for dessert! Brush the hot BBQ clean and grill some fresh fruit! This doesn’t require a super hot grill, so let the grill cool down a bit while you eat dinner and throw them on afterwards. Peaches, nectarines and pineapples are my favorite fruits to grill. I spray the fresh fruit with coconut oil and grill for a few minutes until it’s warm with light grill marks. Top with homemade whipped cream, ice cream or sorbet. Garnish with mint.
